Time capsule

Application: Internal (The Works)

Potential: Receive information beyond current understanding.

Usage: The Sphere is a sound-proof spherical pod for one person to sit inside, with integrated omnidirectional microphone and loudspeaker system, vibro-acoustic chair and on-board spatial audio processing and data processing functions.

A personalized sound session is provided by projecting sound waves and vibrations onto the user’s body and real-time capturing the user’s individual acoustic profile to optimize acoustic entrainment. In this way, the Sphere guides the user towards improved homeostasis, which promotes greater physical and emotional health and resilience. A session in the Sphere takes between 15–40 minutes, depending on the intended effect.

Effects of sound interventions with the Sphere have been observed relating to effective stress alleviation, regulation of arousal for mood and sleep modulation , promotion of cardiovascular functions and blood cell longevity, increased focus, attention, innovative thinking, heightened creativity and improved memory functions and other reported benefits. The effects during and after a treatment may vary among users depending on their personal condition and needs.

Assessment and monitoring of sessions is provided by personal reports accessible through an online app. The reports translate acoustic information captured in the Sphere to factors relating to the user’s physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.

    POP

    Biodiversity measurement device

    Application: Monitoring

Potential: Global measurement system on behalf of nature.

Usage: A POP (Point of Presence) is a 8 cm spherical, water-resistant sound transducer for placement in outdoor environments, with integrated omnidirectional microphone and loudspeaker system and on-board audio processing functions, self-charging power source, location tracking sensor and mesh network function connecting multiple devices to a central processing unit.

Environmental sound is captured by the POPs to assess the richness, abundance, evenness, and diversity of species within a given ecosystem. Based on continuous assessment, acoustic enrichment is auto-determined and soundscape broadcasting is continuously optimized. In this way, POPs facilitate acoustic restoration in disturbed terrestrial and aquatic areas, which can accelerate recolonisation of animals and the microbes and propagules they carry.

POPs can be networked to form mobile multi-channel broadcasting configurations covering extended environmental areas. The central processing unit connecting a network of POPS is used to monitor and report on the restorative process of the area over an extended duration of time.
